Abstract
In the article the author analyzes the state of social health of the population of Russia in the modern period, and the process of social health is considered as one of the factors of security in society. The successful formation and development of social health requires the stability of society and the effective functioning of social institutions, which are obliged to guarantee the social protection of citizens. However, in our country, from the transition period to the present, we see that social institutions do not cope with these tasks, which leads to frustration and deprivation of large segments of the population, the disintegration of values, social disorganization and the emergence of various kinds of deviations.
