The history of the Caspian sea in before October period and post soviet time

In the article the author prepare analysis of the main historical events in area of the Caspian Sea and relations between Caspian states in before October period (Russian Empire and Iran) and post soviet time (Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iran): wars, military campaigns, conquest, negotiations and subscribes of the peace agreements and reflection of these events in Russian and foreign literature. Author show resolution of the delimitation of the Caspian Sea problem, his geographical and legal status and legal regime and problem of protection unique biological resources. It should be noted that for the Caspian Sea, especially its Northern part, is characterized by rich biological diversity (birds, fish, animals). In accordance with the international UN Convention on the law of the sea considers options for the delimitation of the Caspian Sea: a) as a closed sea or b) as lake. Depending on the choice of the sea or of a lake shows you how to change the size of the sectors of coastal States. The definition of the geographical status will contribute to the definition of the legal status of the Caspian Sea that will facilitate more efficient development of mineral resources and the protection of natural resources.
