Abstract
The article elaborates on the core essence of the civic service performed by a truly Profound artist, one of our contemporaries, Ilya Glazunov. The main subject cycles of his works include “The Kulikovo Field”, “Images of Ancient Russia”, “The City”, “Portraits”, “Russian Literature Characters”. The latter series, featuring an impressive number of prominent illustrations, has become a great success, having won Ilya Sergeyevich worldwide renown. The Russian school of exalted realism has been reinstated and preserved primarily by Ilya Glazunov. His masterful talent and endless vigor have aided with establishing the Russian Academy of painting, sculpture and architecture, which bears his name today. Ilya Glazunov has left a marvelous literary heritage for his successors and further artistic generations, which manifested itself in the “Crucified Russia” memoirs. Among his other numerous achievements – the Moscow State Art Gallery of the USSR Folk Artist Ilya Glazunov, and the Museum of Russian Social Estates, which shall open for public sone enough.
