Abstract
The idea of the inevitable decline of the influence of religion in society with the development of progress has been gaining strength since at least the 18th century and became axiomatic by the middle of the 20th century, when the term "secularization theory" became established in social sciences. Its essence is that modernization inevitably leads to the decline of religion in society and in people's minds.
