Abstract

The coming year is the year of the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War of 1812. Have you ever wondered why the undoubtedly heroic ‘Borodino Day’ in our official history, from the tsarist times to the present day, practically leaves in shadow and obscurity the battle for Maloyaroslavets with titanic effort that lasted from 12 September to 14 October 1812? After which Napoleon, having taken the city for the eighth (!) time, was forced to make a disastrous decision to move along the old Smolensk road! Isn't it strange why the reasons why Russia got involved in an absolutely unnecessary war, which shed light on its course, are still out of the public eye?
