Abstract

The article discusses long-term trends in mortality in Russia against the background of European trends. Mortality was analysed in terms of the main age groups of the population and causes of death. This allowed us to identify commonalities and Russian specifics in the implementation of socio-economic reforms from the point of view of their demographic consequences. The author assesses the positive changes in mortality in Russia since 2005, identifies the sources and mechanisms of formation of new trends.
