Abstract
The article aims at empirically verifying the structure of the cultural code of contemporary Russian society through an analysis of the dynamics of traditional values and the typology of patriotic orientations. The empirical basis of the study comprises data from the 55th wave of the nationwide sociological monitoring survey “How Are You, Russia?”, conducted in May–June 2025 (N=1300, quota representative sample). Using methods of comparative analysis and cluster analysis (TwoStep Cluster Analysis), a shift in the hierarchy of values has been identified: patriotism, justice, and the unity of peoples have come to the fore, while the significance of individually oriented and several other fundamental values (creative labor, collectivism, the priority of the spiritual over the material) shows a declining trend. Cluster analysis has identified three types of patriotism: “Loyal Traditionalists” (46,1%) with passive emotional attachment to the Motherland; “Patriot-Defenders” (26,0%) with pronounced readiness for armed defense of the country; and “Critical Activists” (27,9%), who understand patriotism as civic responsibility for improving the country through open criticism. Each type possesses a distinct socio-demographic profile, indicating structural diversity within the value core and highlighting the role of respondents’ life experiences and social roles in shaping value orientations. The study concludes that the identified value heterogeneity must be taken into account when designing measures of state cultural policy aimed at strengthening civic solidarity and societal consolidation.
